The Benefits of Infrared Saunas: Boosting Your Energy and Well-Being

Have you ever felt like life is just a bit too much sometimes, especially after the past few years? We’re constantly bombarded by negative energies happening in the world, add on top of that the pollution, EMFs, and all the toxins in our food, air, and water, it’s no surprise we can often feel drained and overwhelmed. But guess what? There’s a simple and fun way to counteract these daily stressors and give your energy and wellbeing a reboot – infrared saunas! I fell in love with infrared saunas many years ago and I’m excited to share with you why it’s important to incorporate infrared sauna rituals into your health regime. It’ll become one of your fave things to do in the world that comes with so many health benefits.
The Difference Between Infrared Sauna vs Traditional Saunas:
First, to be honest, I always preferred the steam saunas because traditional saunas were always a bit too intense for me, but we now have infrared saunas available. So, let’s talk about the difference between infrared saunas vs. traditional saunas.Traditional saunas heat the air around you, and this can get really intense, reaching temps between 150-195°F (65-90°C). Sometimes for me, it can get a little too much, and not exactly a cozy experience for everyone also. Infrared saunas, on the other hand, use infrared lamps to warm your body directly at a much more comfortable 120-150°F (49-65°C). This means you get all the benefits without feeling like you’re over-heating in an oven.
Boosting your Energy:
One of the coolest things about infrared saunas is how they give you an amazing energy boost. After I started using infrared saunas regularly, I noticed a huge improvement in my energy and vitality. That’s because the gentle heat improves circulation and promotes cellular health, giving you a natural energy lift that feels amazing! You can sit in the sauna for 10-15 minutes if you’re new to it and then progress to 20 – 45 mins. I highly recommend drinking filtered water whilst in the sauna. I especially love going between the infrared sauna and the cold shower a few times. Take notice of the zing you feel afterwards. So when you’re feeling low and lethargic, head to an infrared sauna. Personally as a wellness coach there’s no compromise because it helps me keep up with the demands of life.
Release and Detoxify:
In today’s world, we’re exposed to so many toxins, and detoxifying is more important than ever. Infrared saunas are awesome for this and so integral in our detox regime. How does it work? The deep-penetrating heat helps flush out toxins stored in your body’s fat cells, leading to a cleaner, purer body and clearer skin. You sweat more profusely in an infrared sauna than in a traditional one, which means those nasty toxins are expelled more efficiently. Giving our internal organs responsible for natural detoxing, the liver and kidneys an extra helping hand.
Soothes the Aches and Pains
Between our personal and professional lives we can be left with muscle soreness and joint pain at the end of the day. I highly recommend infrared saunas providing that incredible relief from these aches and pains because the infrared heat relaxes your muscles, reduces inflammation, and eases pain, making it a fantastic recovery tool after an intense day, yoga sessions or workouts. I’m often doing seated yoga poses in the sauna to help ease these aches and pains. The heat penetrates deep into your joints, muscles, and tissues, enhancing blood circulation and speeding up healing.
Calming the Body & Mind:
What I love the most are the mental and relaxation benefits. The soothing heat promotes relaxation, reduces stress, and lifts your mood. Regular infrared sauna sessions can lead to better mental clarity and a greater sense of well-being, especially if you incorporate meditation whilst in there. This mental tranquility perfectly complements my stress management, helping me stay centered and focused. Whilst writing this article I’ve had a few sighs whilst thinking of being in the sauna. Yum!
If you’re looking to lose weight, infrared saunas can help. The heat increases your heart rate and metabolism, it can burn calories similar to moderate exercise. Some studies have suggested you can burn up to 600 calories in a single session! Wow, how cool is that?
